What is IRC?

What is IRC?

IRC stands for Internet Relay Chat. IRC is a massive network of text-based chat channels (rooms) and users all across the world.
Internet Relay Chat is a live chat area of the Internet in which real-time conversations among two or more people take place via special software. Each specific IRC channel begins with a # and is dedicated to a different area of interest. IRC is considered another part of the technology of the Internet the same way FTP, Telnet and the Web are.

How To Get Help from VGMs, GMs and MODs

Guide to 9Dragons IRC channel

Overview

The 9Dragons IRC channel is a parallel 9Dragons community powered by IRC technology (Internet Relay Chat) in which you will be able to discuss in real time with fellow players of 9Dragons. The channel is monitored every day by moderators, VGMs and even GMs. If you have questions to ask or need help on technical or in-game issues, we will be disponible to give a hand at solving the matter. Note however that the best way to get support is to mail 9dsupport@acclaim.com (see the Support mailing guide) to deal directly with the support team. There is still a large range of issues in which we will be able to give you help with.

Moderators, VGMs and GMs will be wearing tags next to their names:
[9D] is for moderators
[VGM] is for Volunteer Game Moderators
[GM] is for Game Masters
[CM] is for Community Manager Wink

Refer to the full IRC community rules and specifications here.
Now if you want to join it, you will need to follow the steps below;
Note: Even though the OS in my screenshots is french, the disposition of the functions doesn't change.

Step 1: Installing the mIRC software

1. Go to www.mIRC.com and click on "Download mIRC" twice.

2. Download the self-extracting executable setup client on your computer.

3. Launch the client by double clicking on its icon. It will be found in the default download directory of your computer (normally on the desktop).

4. Follow the steps of the installer by clicking next, accepting the license and conditions of use (which you may want to read as a user), clicking next again, selecting directories and then installing. The interface is simple; the button you need to click to advance is always located on the bottom-right, middle. Creating a shortcut to the application on the desktop may be a good idea here.

Step 2: Registering on GameSurge.net

1. Go to www.GameSurge.net and click on "Account Registration", on the top right of the page.

2. Fill in the required fields as shown in the following screenshot. You are required to use your Acclaim ID in order to join the 9Dragons community. It is to prevent impersonations and such.

3. You should see this screen once you are done. You should also recieve an e-mail from GameSurge.net with your command tutorial as well as your password at the email adress you filled in.

Step 3: Logging onto the IRC channel

1. Launch mIRC from its shortcut icon or from the directory you installed it in.

2. On the start page, click "continue" as shown in the screenshot below. Do not click "Register". It is to host a chat room, which you do not want to do in this case. There is no need for you to pay for this. mIRC is a free software for what you will be doing with it -- joining the 9Dragons channel.

3. From the mIRC options, which should open automatically, select Connect >> Servers >> GameSurge (the servers are in alphabetical order, so just scroll down) >> Random server, then click on OK.

4. The server should open and ask you which room to join. Close the channel window and go in your mailbox, in which you should find a message like this:

Right-click "copy" the authserv command shown in the screenshot.

5. Now go back to your mIRC client and paste your authserv command in the server text as shown below:

6. Press enter. You should get the Authserv message " --AuthServ-- I recognize you. ". That means you have logged onto the GameSurge server. Congratulations, you can now join the 9Dragons channel by typing in server commands:
/j #9Dragons

7. You can now set your user name from the options or from the commands / change nickname as shown in the following:

Hopefully we will get to see you on the channels. Smile
Note that you should be able to get support in English, Français, Tagalog, Deutsch, العربية , Español and Português (see the Mods and GMs official list).

EDIT: Thanks to warda for helping in resizing the screenshots to make the guide clearer. If anything is not clear in the guide, let me know via PM or post here so that I can amend it.

To connect with mIRC after registering at GameSurge:

1: Go to http://www.mirc.com to download the latest client
2: Run the mIRC client and press continue (you do not have to register the program to use it)
3: Follow the images below for setting up the options

- Expand the Connect option at left and select Servers
- Find GameSurge in the list, expand it and select the Random server from the list then press the Select button

- Now choose Options in the tree at the left and press the Perform button

- Here you can enter in your /authserv command so it will do it for you automatically (enter the username you used when you registered at GameSurge and the password they sent in email)
Placing the /join #9Dragons will allow you to automatically join the room once connected to the server

- Press OK to close the Perform window

- Select the Connect option again and press the Connect button

If all goes well, you will connect to the GameSurge server, authenticate, and automatically join the 9Dragons channel.

Patch 69

Here are the details for patch 69 :

1. Chinese New Year Event
2. Romanian version Beta Released
3. Vault of Yellow Dragons Dungeon modified

Details for New Year Event.

There's a Fortune Teller NPC in Hefei, from who you can buy keys to open the boxes that are lying in front of him. You get a different quest depending on the Fortune Letter number (and each fortune letter has some advice too Wink ) . The main Quest can be got by collecting the fortune letter numbers 2,0,0,9 (*better collect all letters 0 to 9 but for main quest u need two letter zero)
Once you get the numbers, you will see the appropriate Quest info appear on map.

Romanian Version.

From launcher -> Options, you can drop down and choose Romanian, to see the text in Romanian. Note : This is in beta. The events cannot be seen in Romanian, and neither are some other features.

Vault of Yellow Dragon.

You need to kill the main boss to get access to the Six rooms now.

Refinement Research (Originally from Official Forum)

I am sick of people saying the +9 level is bugged and will not succeed. I am also sick of VGM’s and GM’s saying it is not bugged and is working just fine (failing to address the success rate reduction).

The fact of the matter is the rates have been drastically reduced from what they once were. Although you might fail many times in a row, it still is possible to make a +9 weapon.

Below are the results of warrior trying to make a +11 weapon (a warrior with the 5% refining bonus mastery). So many people are curious about refinement rates. This study shows similarities between the old success rates for 1-8 levels. It also shows the how level 9 is now more difficult than what it was, as well as, making +10, +11 , and +12 exponentially more difficult. If you have a large refinement history for +9, +10, +11, and +12 and keep track of the fails and successes feel free to post it and I will add it to these results.

Ultimately, 5,530 BE were used paired with 82 scales and 17 tears from the item mall (insurance only added for +9 or higher). The results were 3 +10 weapons. Not one +11 weapon was made from this study.

Advanced Dungeon Guide: Golden Coin Mansion

Just a little note: I will not include the "Entering the Dungeon" part of my guide, simply because at the level you are entering Golden Coin Mansion, I would at least expect that you have entered a dungeon once before. This is a non-newbie guide.

I. Introduction

The Mansion of Golden Coins is the final dungeon of the Golden Coin clan. Golden Touch, The Alchemist, Master of The Clan of Golden Coins, is the master of this dungeon. Hidden deep in the heart of Hangzhou he rules his clan from this majestic fortess. The Mansion itself is guarded by many formidable guards and have many secrets left to be unveiled.

II. Getting the Passes

III. Golden Coin Mansion Layout

A - This is the room where you will spawn

B - This is one of two doors that will allow you to enter the final boss room

C - This is where mobs and the 4 mini-bosses and 2 main bosses will spawn

D - The other one of two doors that will allow you to enter the final boss room, this is also the way leading to the chest room

E - Chests and exit are located in this area

Mini-boss rooms - (will be explained further) They contain a mini-boss surrounded by mobs, and chest loot rooms

Halls - All the areas marked with the dotted line are filled with mobs, which you must defeat in order to clear the dungeon and open the main boss rooms

IV. Defeating Golden Con Mansion

You are given 30 minutes to defeat the mobs and mini-bosses outside the main room, mobs and mini-bosses inside the main room, and the 2 forms of Martial Arts Maniac and first two forms of Golden Touch. The time for defeating Golden Touch's third form will be determined by the pass/dungeon difficulty.

The dungeon is separated into chambers. These chambers contain mobs, a mini-boss and chest rooms. The main objective for this dungeon is 1) defeat all the mobs and 2) defeat the mini-bosses, get keys from them and open the chest rooms. Remember that the chest rooms MUST be opened in order to toggle the main boss room's opening.

The Halls

The halls are marked orange and pink on the image shown above, only because the orange area of the map is covered by Goldenbell Guards Horn Bow Archers (level 130 mobs) and the pink area is covered by Goldenbell Guards Horn Bow Archers (level 131 mobs). You will need to defeat all of the mobs in the halls to be able to open the main boss room.

The Mini-boss rooms

You will need to defeat all the mobs in the room, and a mini-boss. Mini-bosses will drop keys for you to open chest rooms.

I've broken down all the chambers to include mobs, mini-bosses and keys.

1
Mob Name and level:
Goldenbell Guards Steel Bow Archers (132), Goldenbell Guards Sturdy Bow Archers (133)
Mini-boss Name: Goldenbell Defender Blood Gold Maehwa
Key Dropped:

2
Mob Name and level:
Goldenbell Guards Long Bow Archers (132), Goldenbell Guards Crossbow Archers (133)
Mini-boss Name: Goldenbell Defender Red Apricot Kumhee
Key Dropped:

3
Mob Name and level:
Goldenbell Guards Poisoned Needle Acupuncturists (134), Goldenbell Guards Sturdy Sword Fighters (135)
Mini-boss Name: Goldenbell Defender Blue Clothes Moekung
Key Dropped:

4
Mob Name and level:
Goldenbell Guards Silver Needle Acupuncturists (134), Goldenbell Guards Snake Sword Fighters (135)
Mini-boss Name: Goldenbell Defender Green Bamboo Dongyea
Key Dropped:

5
Mob Name and level:
Goldenbell Guards Short Spear Warriors (136), Goldenbell Guards Dual Spear Warriors (137)
Mini-boss Name: Goldenbell Defender Archer Hoorang
Key Dropped:

6
Mob Name and level:
Goldenbell Guards Golden Spear Warriors (137), Goldenbell Guards Steel Spear Warriors (138)
Mini-boss Name: Goldenbell Defender Far Lived Groom
Key Dropped:

You will find doors to open (like this one) in every room. The key to open these rooms are the keys dropped by each mini-boss (shown above)

And inside, you will find chests to open. It doesn't matter if you collect from the chests or not to be able to open the final room gates.

V. The Final Bosses: Martial Arts Maniac and Golden Touch

After you have opened all the doors and defeated all the mobs, the poison mist will disappear along with the bleeding. At this moment, the gates to the final boss room will open. When you enter, there will be more mobs inside, including 4 mini-bosses.

http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c84/mystwyze/Golden%20Coin%20Mansion/GCM_miniboss5.jpg

Once you have defeated all the mini-bosses, the two final bosses will spawn. Note that you only need to kill the mini-bosses to trigger main boss spawn.

Martial Arts Maniac has two forms to defeat

Golden Touch has three forms to defeat.

Note that you have the option not to clear the last mobs in the main boss room in order to finish to dungeon. You may leave them as soon as you have killed both the main bosses.

VI. Exiting

When you have defeated the two final bosses, you will be able to enter the loot room, collect from the chests and exit.

VII. The Rewards

From the Mobs:

Yes, if you are the right level, mobs will drop for you. Drops are similar to those in Wild Tower. They include GB-FC level weapons, Dodge clothes, HP absorb hats, HP/VE wristbands, seals (Fire, Water, Trees, Moon, Iron)

From Martial Arts Maniac:

This is the boss that has similar drops to Golden Shell in Silver Coin Mansion. He will drop all the White Clan Mansion gear and accessories.

From Golden Touch:

This is the boss that has similar drops to Laughing Face in Silver Coin Mansion. He will drop the Vagabond Vault of Death gear and accessories. He also drops Blood Essence.

From the Chests:

Intermediate and Advanced manuals, level 3, 4, 5 and 6 elixirs, elixir supplements and water herbs

Epithet:

I'd like to thank GM Shaleza and GM Phew for taking me into the dungeons and working on the guides with me, plus the moral support as I slaved on the guides lol.

Some missing information:

- Mobs that drop passes
- Time given to defeat 3rd boss form per pass level
- Boss levels per pass level

I'll get that information as soon as GM Phew gets back to me on them. For the meantime I hope you find the guide helpful

Advanced Dungeon Guide: Beast Tower

Just a little note: I will not include the "Entering the Dungeon" part of my guide, simply because at the level you are entering Beast Tower, I would at least expect that you have entered a dungeon once before. This is a non-newbie guide.

I. Introduction

The Beastmaster of the Beast Clan, Zhurong, rules from the impenetrable Vault of Double Dragons, his Beast Tower, hidden in the far reaches of Nanchang. Had you braved Wild Tower and met his two most powerful generals, Savage Hands and Flaming bull, you must now be aware of the power which the Beastmaster holds. For the bravest of warriors, take this challenge. For those faint at heart, there is still time to turn back...

II. Getting the Passes

III. Beast Tower Layout

Image 1

1 - This is the area where you spawn as you enter the Beast Tower

2 - First Mini Boss you will encounter, Double Axe Beast, he will drop a key Black Leopard Eye

3 - Second Mini Boss you will encounter, Great Hoya King, he will drop a key White Tiger Eye

4 - Third Mini Boss you will encounter, New Bear Rider, he will drop a key Heavenly Bear Eye

5 - First gate to open with Black Leopard Eye. Proceed further and you will encounter mobs. You must defeat all the mobs to proceed further

6 - Second gate to open with White Tiger Eye. Proceed further to unlock the third gate.

7 - Third gate to open with Heavenly Bear Eye. Enter and fight mobs. Defeat all mobs to trigger bosses.

8 - Boos room and gates to the exit. Destroy the gates to be able to reach the exit.

9 - Loot chests and exit

All the unmarked areas are where the mobs are located.

IV. Defeating Beast Tower

The objective of Beast Tower is actually fairly simple: You get 1 hour to defeat all the mobs, get to the three mini-bosses to loot the keys to open the games, defeat more mobs to trigger the mini-boss and boss spawns, defeat The Beast Sage and defeat Zhurong's first two forms. The time given to defeat Zhurong's third form will be determined by the pass/dungeon difficulty level.

The difficulty here: there's a lot of mobs to kill, and you have to do it all while you are bleeding. Mobs range from level 130-138 outside the gates, and level 139-141 inside the gates. Most of the areas you will not be able to use lightfoot on either, so be prepared to spend a lot of time running around.

Since this dungeon has no chambers, I've tried my best to layout the map into areas where which level mobs are present:

Image 2

You will be poisoned for the most part while killing mobs, i.e. you will be bleeding a lot. Until you defeat the final bosses, you will be poisoned the whole way through.

There are 3 important mini-bosses you must kill,

Doube Axe Beast (Marked 2 in Image 1), is in a separate room surrounded by mobs. Drops Black Leopard Eye

New Bear Rider (Marked 4 in Image 1) drops Heavenly Bear Eye

These two mini-bosses are in separate rooms, surrounded by mobs.

Great Hoya King (Marked 3 in Image 1) is not in a separate room, drops White Tiger Eye

The drops from these Mini-bosses will allow you to open the gates leading to the final bosses.

The first gate opens with Black Leopard Eye

Once you enter this gate you will encounter more mobs (level 139-140)

Proceed further to the second gate, opens with White Tiger Eye

http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c84/mystwyze/Beast%20Tower/BT_main4.jpg

And finally, the third gate to open with Heavenly Bear Eye

V. The Final Bosses: The Beast Sage and Zhurong

Once you have cleared the mobs, you will be able to move on to the final room where there will be more mobs to defeat (level 140-141)

And finally, after they have been defeated, 7 mini-bosses and the two final bosses will spawn

http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c84/mystwyze/Beast%20Tower/BT_mboss5-1.jpg
http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c84/mystwyze/Beast%20Tower/BT_mboss4.jpg

The Beast Sage is one of the two final bosses. You must defeat both his forms

http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c84/mystwyze/Beast%20Tower/BT_sage1.jpg

Zhurong is the other of the two final bosses. He has three forms to defeat.

http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c84/mystwyze/Beast%20Tower/BT_2zhurong1.jpg

VI. Exiting

And when all the bosses are defeated, it's time to exit the gates

http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c84/mystwyze/Beast%20Tower/BT_exitgate2.jpg
http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c84/mystwyze/Beast%20Tower/BT_exitbridge.jpg

Finally, loot the chests and exit.
